I’m an observer of people, animals, and the wonders of creation. When I was young, I luckily found a way to keep some of those moments - by using photography.
I started taking pictures with my first camera in Washington, D.C. when I was about 7 years old. It was a Bugs Bunny camera and it went with me every where I went. I instantly fell in love with picture taking and became quite a shutter bug. My first career aspiration was to be a photojournalist for National Geographic. Here I am over 40 years later, still trying to capture all the joy I can. My passion for photography has never waned.
As a counselor, I encourage clients to use creative and expressive arts along their healing journey. They are necessary and vital to our mental health. Find what brings you joy. Experiement with some new forms of creative expression. It never has to be perfect. Just enjoy the moment you're in and have fun.
Here are some more recent handheld candid photos taken with my iPhone and some with my Nikon that bring me joy. I hope they give you some enjoyment, too.
This is me, age 7, trying to lure a grey squirrel for a close-up in Washington, D.C. I had my first camera and had to take a picture of EVERYTHING!
